Admission Notice for Preliminary to Masters (Regular) Program for Academic Year 2020-2021. The online preliminary application for the Preliminary to Masters (Regular) admission program for the academic year 2020-2021 in colleges affiliated with the National University will start at 4 pm on March 16 and will continue till 12 pm on March 27, 2023. Interested candidates have to fill out the initial application form online from the admission website of the National University and submit the initial application fee of Rs. The classes of the students admitted in this educational program will start from 02 May 2023. Detailed information regarding admission can be known from the Prospectus/Important Notice option of the admission website of the National University.

Preliminary to Masters Application Eligibility:
A) Students who have obtained minimum CGPA of 2.25 in the grading and credit system or minimum CGPA of 2.25 in regular examinations under the National University from 2016 to 2020 with a minimum of 45% marks in the regular examination from 2016 to 2020 can apply for. Besides, applicants seeking admission to the Preliminary to masters (Regular) program must obtain a minimum of 40% marks out of 400 marks in the traditional system or a minimum GPA of 2.0 out of 24 credits in the subjects studied in the grading and credit system.
b) Students who have passed the graduation (pass) private/certificate course examination from the National University cannot apply for the Preliminary to Masters (regular) admission program in the academic year 2020-2021. However, all these students will get the opportunity to register in the Preliminary to Masters (Private) program in the academic year 2020-2021 subject to fulfilling the eligibility and conditions of the application.
c) Students who have obtained pass degree in Bachelor (Honours) examination four years period from 2016 to 2020 under the National University cannot apply for the Preliminary to Masters (Regular) program. However, all these students can apply for registration in the Preliminary to Masters (Private) program if they get minimum of 45% marks or a GPA of 2.25 in the certificate course examination.
d) No student who has passed/studying for Masters 1st Phase/Preliminary to Masters (Regular/Private) examination from National University or currently studying in any other educational program cannot apply for the Preliminary to Masters (Regular) program in the academic year 2020-2021. For this purpose ‘I am not currently enrolled/studying in any other educational program under the National University/any University. In case of dual admission, I will be bound to accept the decision regarding cancellation of both admission and registration as per the provisions of the National University”- an undertaking signed by the applicant should be scanned and uploaded in the online application. If a student violates the said condition and takes dual admission, both his admission and registration will be considered canceled.
e) The National University Authority reserves the right to cancel the admission and registration of the applicant if any information/picture of the applicant in the initial application form is found to be false, incorrect, or incomplete.

Preliminary to Masters Merit List and Subject Distribution:
A) Candidates applying for the Preliminary to Masters (regular) admission program in the academic year 2020-2021 will be allotted subjects based on the results of the graduation (pass) examination by preparing merit list separately for each college.
b) If two or more applicants in the same subject in the same college have the same merit score, then the merit order will be decided by giving priority to the applicant who is younger in age.
c) The admission process will be completed through merit list, quota, and release slip in phases.
d) The concerned college can view the result of subject wise merit list using the User ID, Password, and OTP. Applicants can know the result of the merit list through SMS (type nu space atmp space roll no and send to 16222) or from the Applicant Login option on the admission website (www.nu.ac.bd/admissions) or directly from the college.
Preliminary to Masters Application Procedure:
a) The applicant should go to the Master’s Tab on the admission website of the National University and click on the Apply Now (Masters Preli.) option in the information table displayed on the website, the roll number of the graduation (pass) examination, registration number, pass number, personal registered mobile number, and e-mail address must be entered correctly. Besides “I am not currently enrolled/studying in any other educational program under the National University/any University. In case of dual admission, I will be bound to accept the decision regarding cancellation of both admission and registration as per the provisions of the National University”- an undertaking signed by the applicant should be scanned and uploaded in the online application.
b) At this stage Male/Female will be displayed according to the information stored in the database of the applicant. If Male is displayed instead of Male or Male instead of Female in the information table of the applicant, click on the Change option and enter the correct Gender. It should be noted that any male applicant applying to a female college due to intentional or gender bias will be considered to be rejected.
c) The applicant selects the department and district according to his/her choice and selects the name of the college to see the list of eligible subjects and the seat number of the applicant in the respective college. From the said list the applicant should carefully decide the order of preference of the subjects applied for. Later the applicants will be allotted subjects based on merit according to this order of preference.
d) Applicants who wish to be admitted to Freedom Fighter’s Child/Aboriginal/Disabled/Pet quota should select the quota applicable to them in the specified place in the information table. Note that only children/children of National University teachers, officers, and employees can apply for the pet quota. Quota applications should have an original certificate issued by the appropriate authority. If an applicant is eligible in one or more Preliminary to Masters (Regular) Admission Circular 2020-21 Quota then the quota preference should be determined. Seats reserved for quota will be treated as additional to subject-wise allotted seats.
e) At the time of filling out the initial application form, the applicant should scan and upload a recently taken color photograph of the passport size. Image size should be 120 × 150 pixels, Image Type: jpg, and maximum file size: 50Kb. If any photograph other than the applicant’s photograph is uploaded in the initial application form, the applicant’s admission and registration will be considered canceled.
f) Fill the table with the correct information and picture and click on Submit Application option. At this stage, the roll number and PIN of the applicant will be displayed and the applicant has to download the form [on A4(8.5”×11”) offset white paper] and collect the Print/PDF copy.
g) Correction of errors in the filled application form: The applicant should thoroughly verify that all the information and photographs appearing in his initial application form are correct. If there is any informational discrepancy or defective image in the application form, it should be corrected. To correct the application form, the applicant has to go to the Applicant Login (Master Preli.) option and give the roll number and pin entry of the application form. At this stage, if the applicant goes to the Form Cancel / Photo Change Option link and clicks the Click to Generate the Security Key option, the One Time Password (OTP) will be given to the personal mobile number mentioned in the application form through SMS. With this OTP entry, the applicant can cancel his application form and fill out the new application form and upload the correct photo. Note that the applicant will get the opportunity to cancel the initial application form only once. Once the initial application form is confirmed by the college, the applicant cannot cancel the form.
h) The applicant should sign and date the printed initial application form in the prescribed space. Along with this application form, the applicant must submit the attested mark sheet of graduation (pass) examination, attested copy of registration card, attested copy of undertaking regarding dual admission, and initial application fee of Tk. Direct) must be submitted. The concerned college will confirm the initial application form of the applicants online, all the applicants will be notified through SMS. A merit list of no applicants will be prepared without initial application confirmation. After submitting the application form to the college, if the applicant does not receive an SMS on his mobile phone, he should understand that his application form has been confirmed by the concerned college.
To be done regarding filling the application form on the release slip:
Those applicants who do not get a place in the merit list or cancel the admission or do not get admission in the allotted subject despite getting a place in the merit list, those applicants have to apply for release slip by selecting three colleges in the subject-wise vacant seats to get a place in the merit list. If an applicant’s initial application form is not verified online by the college, the applicant cannot apply on the release slip.
Regarding Preliminary to Masters dual admission:
Any student placed on the merit list in the Preliminary to Masters (regular) admission program for the academic year 2020-2021 is currently studying in any other educational program (regardless of the academic year) (i.e. if the result of the relevant examination is not published) he/she must cancel the previous admission and take admission in this program. Otherwise, both the admission and registration of that student will be considered canceled due to dual admission.
To be done by the college authorities for preliminary to masters admission:
A) In order to conduct the admission process, the concerned college should go to the College (Postgraduate) Login option of the admission website of the National University and give the allotted User ID and Password entry for the master’s program. If you click on Click to Generate the Security key option during the initial application form/final admission confirmation, a One Time Password (OTP) will be given to the mobile number provided by the concerned college through SMS and college e-mail. By using this OTP the concerned college can confirm the preliminary application form/final admission of the applicants.
b) The college authorities will confirm the initial application form online by depositing Rs.300/- (three hundred) towards the initial application fee from the applicants. If the initial application form of an applicant is not verified online by the college, the merit list of that applicant will not be prepared.
c) The college authorities must confirm the initial application form online by matching all the information and photographs shown in the initial application form of the applicants otherwise the admission and registration of the concerned applicant will be considered canceled due to faulty photograph and wrong information. If any photograph other than the applicant’s photograph appears in the initial application form, the concerned college shall inform the Dean’s Office (Postgraduate Education, Training and Research Centre) in writing without endorsing the application form.
d) The college authorities will accept the initial application fee/final admission registration fee from the applicants either through mobile banking as prescribed by their own supervision or directly. For this purpose, the respective colleges will provide instructions to the applicants on their own websites and notice boards.
e) The college authorities will deposit the National University’s share of the initial application fee of the assured applicants [at the rate of Taka 200/-(two hundred) per applicant] in the concerned sector (admission fund) and collect the receipt at any Sonali Bank branch. For this purpose, the concerned college has to download Pay Slip by clicking Application Payment Info (Preli.) option through Login.
